In Summer 2025, we'll be launching a brand-new Smit Gather trail, a unique way to connect with real lives behind the flocks and farms of Lakeland.
Forty farms across the fells will host distinctive plaques showing their flock's smit mark, corresponding to entries in the Shephards Guide. Each stop on the trail will unlock stories od the farmers, the land, and the lives of the sheep on the common. With the QR code, you can discover the past and present of each fell-going flock, where they graze, how they're hefted, and why their work matters.
